If hiking is one of your favourite pastimes, at the Vilpianerhof you have come to the right place. And there are a few good reasons to validate it. First of all, around our hiking hotel in Vilpian/Terlan you will find a varied network of hiking trails which leaves nothing to be desired. In the valley, you will find comfortable paths to stroll along, while challenging but nonetheless rewarding hiking destinations will await you on higher elevations. It is possible to set off for several destinations right on our doorstep. In all the other cases, you will comfortably reach your starting point using the public means of transport or even the ropeway, which is just a five minutes’ walk away and will take you from Vilpian to the Tschögglberg plateau. In addition, your host, Hansjörg Althuber, will guide you once a week on one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the vicinities. As a certified mountain guide, he is also the ideal contact person when it comes to hints and suggestions for hiking experience.

To the Oberschol wine tavern & to Schlemmer

Walking time ca. 3 h, altitude difference 390 m, easy hike

From the centre of Vilpian or the parking area next to valley station of the ropeway, you will reach the Oberschol wine tavern following the path No. 1. From there, the paths 1A and 1B will lead you past the Planatschhöfe back down to Schlemmer. Following this path, you will get back to your starting point.

To Verschneid

Walking time ca. 7-8 h, altitude difference ca. 800 m, extensive day’s hike

Your starting point, Schlemmer, is located south of Vilpian. The waymark 1B will show you the way uphill to Planatsch and the Spoar farmhouses. From there, follow the path No. 4 past the St. Georgen hamlet to Verschneid. The descent will take you to Tschaufen, crossing the Möltner Street to Terlan multiple times, and then past the Legar farmhouses. Then follow the waymarks of the hiking paths leading away from the road.

To the Maultasch ruin near Terlan

Walking time ca. 2 h, altitude difference ca. 120 m, family friendly hike

This comfortable hike starts at the parish church of Terlan. The well-marked path to the Maultasch ruin will lead you trough beautiful vineyards, past the Liebeneich residence and the Hochbrunner farmhouse and along the Margarethen promenades to your destination, from where you are able to enjoy a beautiful view across the Etsch valley. The descent takes place along the same route.
